Driving rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph began lashing the Tampa Bay area this morning as the center of Hurricane Wilma made landfall as a category 3 storm in Collier County.

Other developments:

-- The Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco public transportation systems resumed bus service at 11 a.m.

-- Tampa International Airport resumed flights at 11 a.m. Delta Airlines will resume service at 4 p.m. TIA officials expected more than 100 canceled or delayed flights today, so travelers are urged to contact individual airlines before departing for any area airport.

-- Because of continuing wind gusts, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge is closed to high-profile vehicles, according to media reports.

-- A flood warning has been issued for the Little Manatee River in southern Hillsborough County.

-- Scattered power outages are being reported by utility companies.

-- Public schools and colleges around the bay area are closed Monday.
