SPCA seeks donations for Katrina survivors

The SPCA of Hernando County is seeking donations for pets that survived Hurricane Katrina and now reside at the shelter. Foster homes and volunteers are also greatly needed.

Donations such as Purell Instant Hand Sanitizer, antibacterial liquid soap, paper towels, toilet paper, rubber gloves, disposable gloves and cleaning supplies, as well as monetary donations for veterinary care, spaying and neutering are needed.

The shelter is at 9075 Grant St. (Sunshine Grove Road to Taylor Street to Grant), Brooksville. For information, call 596-7000.

Hospital seeks items for community yard sale

Oak Hill Hospital is seeking donations of salable items for its community yard sale, which will be from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 11-12 on the hospital grounds, 11375 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill.

All donations should be in good condition and operable (no clothing or stuffed animals, please) and can be dropped off from noon to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Bake sale items will also be accepted on event days.

All proceeds will go to the HCA Hope Fund, which is dedicated to HCA employees who have been affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. All unsold items will be donated to a variety of local organizations that will get them to hurricane victims.
