Big names on list to replace Stern

Infinity Broadcasting Corp., finally revealing its plans to replace Howard Stern, announced a new morning drive-time lineup Tuesday of assorted hosts for its 27 soon-to-be former Stern stations, including WBZZ-AM in Tampa. Rather than turn to one replacement, Infinity is offering different names and formats for different markets.

The biggest names are ex -Van Halen front man David Lee Roth and comedian Adam Carolla. Roth, who appeared Tuesday on Stern's nationally syndicated show to announce the move, will start in January on stations in West Palm Beach, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Dallas.

Carolla, known for his work on Comedy Central, will take over in Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Portland and Las Vegas.

WBZZ, a talk station, will replace Stern with more talk; specifics haven't been decided. WOCL-FM in Orlando will give its jocks Drew Garabo and Mel Taylor a morning show.

Stern begins his new deal with Sirius Satellite Radio in January. His last Infinity broadcast is Dec. 16.

Top-drawing musicals asking top ticket prices

Three of Broadway's most popular musicals, Monty Python's Spamalot, Wicked and Mamma Mia!, have broken the $100 price mark for regular orchestra-seat tickets.

Each now charges $110, and that's not including fees that certain theaters add to each ticket price, and service and handling charges for tickets ordered through Ticketmaster or Telecharge.

But nobody seems to mind paying the price. All three shows do hefty business each week; Wicked and Spamalot regularly sell out.

For the moment, other musicals are holding at $100 or a little less for regular orchestra seats. But most shows will raise prices for the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's weeks.
