Region volleyball

AT STAKE: A spot in the region semifinals at 2 p.m. Saturday.

ADMISSION: $6

CLASS 5A, REGION 2

Bloomingdale (14-10) at River Ridge (22-4)

NEED TO KNOW: River Ridge, paced by setter Brittany Castelamare, made it to the region final each of the past four seasons. The Royal Knights' senior class has won conference and district titles in each of its seasons. District 8 runnerup Bloomingdale is led by Elizabeth Casto, Raquel Casto, Ally Gray and Natasha Stevens.

UP NEXT: The winner plays the Winter Park Lake Howell-Auburndale winner.

Ridgewood (15-9) at King (13-6)

NEED TO KNOW: Third-seeded Ridgewood upended No. 2 Central before falling to No. 1 River Ridge in the District 7 final. Rams middle hitter Caitlin Morrison led Pasco County in kills and blocks during the regular season. Lauren Bloemke, a returning all-county player, and Alison Zak lead District 8 winner King.

UP NEXT: The winner plays the Lake Gibson-Daytona Beach Mainland winner.

CLASS 4A, REGION 2 Celebration (19-5) at Hudson (22-5)

NEED TO KNOW: Hudson beat Celebration in three games en route to the state semifinals last season. The Cobras, ranked seventh in 4A by the Florida Sports Writers Association, cruised through the District 8 tournament, beating Zephyrhills and Nature Coast Tech. Celebration was the District 7 runnerup.

UP NEXT: The winner plays the Crystal River-St. Augustine Menendez winner.
