Chris Olinger propels Wharton to dominance in district swim competition. Chamberlain, Gaither and Sickles teams also shine.

Wharton High School senior Chris Olinger began his quest for another state swimming championship last week by winning both his individual events in the Class 3A, District 4 meet.
He also anchored two winning relays in helping the Wharton boys dominate the competition.
The Wharton Wildcats girls also turned in stalwart performances.
Following are the top four finishers for Wharton, Gaither and Chamberlain in the 3A, 4 meet. Lower in this story are the results for the Sickles swim team in the Class 3A, District 5 meet.
Wharton boys
Olinger won the 200 and 500 freestyle events and helped win the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Also on the medley were Armando Acosta, Paolo Dimare and Greg Stevens. Their time was 1 minute, 51.33 seconds.
Josh Anderson joined Stevens, Dimare and Olinger to win the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.20.
Stevens won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.28 and placed third in the 200 individual medley
Dimare also placed fourth in the 200 individual medley and third in the 100 butterfly, and Acosta finished fourth in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke.
Acosta, Anderson, Garrett Lovell and Matt Legg placed third in the 400 freestyle relay.
Chamberlain boys
Andrew Waldo, Christopher Lilliston, Michael Delfavero and William Shugart combined their efforts to place third in the 200 freestyle relay.
Shugart placed second in the 50 freestyle and second in the 100 breaststroke and Waldo finished fourth in the breaststroke.
Gaither boys
Bobby Hart, Jeff Harper, Brett Davis and Christian Bernuil placed second in the 200 freestyle relay.
Bernuil won the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.20 and finished second in the 200 individual medley. Hart was third in both the 50 and 100 freestyle and Davis placed fourth in the 200 and 500 freestyle.
Wharton girls
Kelly Boyd, Macey Bronson, Marjorie Chamberlin and Casie Latimer combined their talents to win both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. The winning time was 1:56.99 for the medley and 1:46.49 for the freestyle.
Chamberlin also won the 200 freestyle in 2:01.34 and the 100 butterfly in 59.72.
Latimer also won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.08 and was third in the butterfly. Bronson won the 50 freestyle with a 25.25 and was second in the 100 breaststroke.
Boyd finished second in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle. Emily Latimer was second in the 500 freestyle.
Emily Latimer, Cameron Stump, Kelly Sykes and Emily Bootcheck combined to place third in the 400 freestyle relay.
Chamberlain girls
Lauren Romano, Krista West, Marcela Schaefer and Emeri Lewkowicz placed third in the 200 medley relay and second in the 200 freestyle relay.
Lewkowicz also finished second in both the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.
Kasmin McNamara finished second in the 1 meter diving event and Kamryn McNamara was fourth.
Gaither girls
Valerie Crovo finished third in the 200 individual medley.
Class 3A, District 5
Sickles boys and girls teams also did well in their swimming district.
Sickles boys
Conor and Corey Swanson, Jonathan Pitocco and Chris Findley made up the Sickles Gryphons' 200 medley relay, placing second.
Kevin Frey replaced Pitocco in the quartet to help the team place third in the 400 freestyle relay.
Corey Swanson captured gold twice in winning both the 50 freestyle in 22.18 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 52.01 seconds. His brother, Conor, placed second in the 200 individual medley and fourth in the 100 backstroke.
Sickles girls
Carrie Foster, Britny Went, Erin Hotchkiss and Megan Cook made up the Gryphons' foursome that placed fourth in the 400 freestyle relay.
Veronica Case replaced Hotchkiss to form the 200 freestyle relay team that placed second.
Went also placed second in the 100 and third in 200 freestyle. Case was fourth in the 200 individual medley and Merissa Cunningham finished fourth in diving.
