TAMPA - A man accused of kidnapping his former girlfriend at knifepoint was arrested Friday morning, authorities said.

Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies say Esteban Laporte, 27, of 3220 Welborn Way in Tampa confronted his estranged girlfriend, Joyce Lombana, 19, about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, at a convenience store on North Dale Mabry Highway. He grabbed her, hit her and forced her at knifepoint into his car and drove off, deputies said.

She was found safe Friday morning at Laporte's home, deputies said.

He was charged with armed kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. He is being held without bond at Orient Road Jail.
