Long's view on guns not the same as Bunting's
Letters to the Editor

Re: John Long dies at age 59
I was shocked at a statement made by Bill Bunting: "We were adversaries over the Penny for Pasco tax, but we were in lockstep when it came to guns." Nothing could be further from the truth.
In my many discussions with John Long, he made it quite clear that he did not in any way support the extreme positions that the National Rifle Association and Bunting have on guns.

Good Samaritans get thanks for saving dog
Re: Every dog has its hero? This one has two, Oct. 28
Thank you, Rosalie Bennett, for being the kind of person who would brave U.S. 19 to rescue a scared and injured animal. Roger Mericle, you are a wonderful example.
I was touched by the fact the you stopped by the vet's office twice to offer financial assistance for the dog's treatment.

Cheerfulness preferred over disabled hunters
Re: An adapted hunt opens doors for 10, Oct. 24
Your front page pictures and article spoiled my day!
With all the bad news lately, something cheerful would have been a change.
Surely, there must be something more worthwhile for the disabled to do than show their prowess in hunting.
