The new drug plan presents big change for Medicare.

DATES TO REMEMBER

NOV. 15: First day you can enroll in a Medicare Part D plan.

DEC. 30: Last day to sign up for Medicare Part D, if you want your coverage to begin on Jan. 1. (If you have limited income and want extra help, you should consider applying for assistance sooner).

JAN. 1: First day you can use a Medicare Part D prescription plan you enrolled in before Dec. 31.

MAY 15: The last day you can sign up for a Part D plan without penalty.
