CLASSROOM MAKEOVER CONTEST: Students in Grades 4-8 are invited by EXPO Markers to visit and enter the EXPO Classroom Makeover Contest with a chance to win one of five grand prize $10,000 makeovers for their classrooms, complete with EXPO dry erase boards, markers and accessories, fresh paint and a new design with an emphasis on color. Students are asked to write an online essay of 100 words or fewer describing how their teacher makes learning fun. Each winning student will receive a new Dell personal computer to use at home. Deadline is midnight Dec. 15. Contest winners will be announced in January.

LECANTO HIGH DRAMA: The Lecanto High School Panther Players will present Jekyll and Hyde: The Musical at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 and 18 and 2 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Curtis Peterson Auditorium. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Advance tickets are available at the Lecanto High School main office. Call 746-2334. Parental discretion is advised, as small children may become frightened.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE EXPO: Central Florida Community College will hold a Careers and Colleges Expo from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Klein Conference Center, 3001 SW College Road, Ocala. Talk to representatives from 70 public and private colleges in Florida, universities and technical institutions, out of state colleges and universities, military academies and area businesses. Admission is free.

MENTOR TRAINING: An orientation for volunteers will be at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 16 or Nov. 30 at the school District Services Center, 1007 W Main St., by Pat Lancaster, school and community relations specialist. Prospective volunteers must attend this orientation program before mentoring in our county schools. Call Shelby Weingarten, coordinator of the Citrus County Mentoring Partnership, at 527-5424.

CRYSTAL RIVER MIDDLE SAEC MEETING: The Crystal River Middle School Advisory Enhancement Council will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in the upstairs administrative conference room. The meetings are open to the public.

CITRUS SPRINGS MIDDLE ENHANCEMENT COUNCIL MEETING: The Citrus Springs Middle School Advisory Enhancement Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in the media center. All parents and the public are invited to attend. Call Citrus Springs Middle School at 344-2244.
