ST. PETERSBURG - A City Council incumbent was fined $1,500 for failing to submit a campaign finance report on time.

John Bryan, who is running for re-election in District 2, turned in his forms from the Sept. 3-22 reporting period three days late and had to pay a $500 per day fine, said City Clerk Eva Andujar.

The form was due Sept. 23. Bryan turned it in Sept. 26. Bryan, who is running against lawyer Eve Joy, said he misread the date.

"It was laying on my desk, ready to go, and I just got the date wrong," said Bryan, who paid the fine out of his personal account. "I made the mistake, and I paid the price."
