BUFFALO, N.Y. - Martin Havlat and Daniel Alfredsson scored four goals and Dany Heatley two to propel the Senators to a 10-4 victory over the Sabres on Wednesday.
It was the third time in three games a Senator has scored four goals. Heatley did it in an 8-0 win over Toronto on Saturday.
Buffalo was without goalie Ryan Miller, who had started all but one game (6-4, 2.77 goals-against average) but will miss six weeks after a shot during the morning skate broke his right thumb. Buffalo also lost right wing Mike Grier to a hip flexor in the first. His status is unknown.
Martin Biron started in goal but allowed three goals on the first six shots. He was lifted 7:27 in for Mika Noronen, who dressed for the first time this season. Noronen allowed four goals on 17 shots before Biron came back to start the third.
After Havlat completed his hat trick to make it 5-0, Buffalo scored three consecutive goals. But Ottawa pulled away again on Havlat's fourth goal with 3:02 left in the second and Alfredsson's first goal 1:34 later.
BLACKHAWKS 6, BLUES 5 (OT): Brent Seabrook scored his first goal on a wrister from the right circle 35 seconds into overtime for visiting Chicago. The Blues cut it to 5-3 in the third on Mike Sillinger's goal and tied it on goals 31 seconds apart by Peter Sejna and Jamal Mayers.
KINGS 6, STARS 3: Defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky recorded his first hat trick for visiting Los Angeles. The Kings capitalized on a two-man advantage 8:17 into the second on Visnovsky's first goal. His second, 1:35 later, made it 4-1. And he capped it 5:50 into the third on a power play.
CANUCKS 2, WILD 1: Alex Auld made 16 of his 31 saves in the third for host Vancouver. Auld, in his first start since Dan Cloutier sustained a concussion Saturday, stopped Pascal Dupuis on a two-on-none down low, stuck out his left pad to thwart Brian Rolston on a partial breakaway and held on after the Wild pulled its goalie on a two-man advantage. Ed Jovanovski's one-timer on a power play and Jarkko Ruutu's shot through traffic put the Canucks up 2-0.
Leetch out for a month
BOSTON - Bruins defenseman Brian Leetch will miss a month after being diagnosed with a strained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. Leetch was injured Tuesday when he went for the puck and collided with Islanders forward Shawn Bates during a 4-3 overtime loss.
Leetch, 37, who had never had a knee injury since entering the NHL in 1988, has three goals and five assists in 14 games.
BLUES: Center Doug Weight sat out Wednesday after a concussion sustained Saturday against Los Angeles and is day to day.
MAPLE LEAFS: Captain Mats Sundin skated for the first time since being hit in the left eye by a puck and sustaining a broken orbital bone on opening night. He hopes to return Saturday or Sunday.
RED WINGS: Goalie Manny Legace is day to day after spraining his left knee Tuesday when Chicago's Matthew Barnaby fell on him. An MRI exam showed no other damage.
