BRANDON - Although playoff teams are set, a little work still remains tonight, the last night of the regular season.

Armwood and Riverview are prepping tonight for home playoff games, and Bloomingdale is looking to close out a solid season at .500.

This year's postseason will feature Armwood, as usual. But there also will be an influx of new blood, namely Brandon, East Bay and Riverview.

Armwood, Brandon and Riverview will host playoff games at home, while East Bay goes on the road.

For Brandon, it's the first trip to the postseason since 1996. It took upset victories to guarantee the Eagles' first playoff spot in nine years.

Brandon took care of its business, upsetting East Bay 47-42 in a thriller. Brandon running back Mike Brown collected 238 yards and scored five touchdowns in the big win. The other part of the Brandon equation came from Bloomingdale, which upset Plant City to send the Eagles to the postseason and send the Plant City Raiders home.

All kickoffs are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

EAST BAY (5-4) at ARMWOOD (8-1)

Last Week: Armwood defeated Lake Region 55-7; East Bay lost to Brandon 47-42.

Last Year: Did not play.

The Skinny: East Bay's upset loss to Brandon cost it the Class 5A, District 7 title. Armwood's roll toward the playoffs continues.

The Edge: Armwood may rest some players for the playoffs but will still have more than enough to handle East Bay, which is heading to the postseason as a wild card team.

BLOOMINGDALE (4-5) at NEWSOME (3-6)

Last Week: Bloomingdale defeated Plant City 31-14; Newsome lost to Middleton 34-7.

Last Year: Bloomingdale defeated Newsome 35-28.

The Skinny: Bloomingdale pulled off one of its biggest wins in school history last week, thoroughly outplaying Plant City. Newsome has played good football this year, suffering from a few bad bounces and a tough district.

The Edge: Newsome in a squeaker.

PLANT CITY (4-5) at RIVERVIEW (8-1)

Last Week: Riverview defeated Sarasota Riverview 24-21; Plant City lost to Bloomingdale 31-14.

Last Year: Plant City defeated Riverview 14-7.

The Skinny: The Riverview Sharks achieved the district championship in their first year at the Class 6A level. Plant City may still be thinking about its unexpected loss to Bloomingdale, which caused its elimination from the postseason.

The Edge: Riverview keeps the intensity up on its way to the playoffs, taking care of Plant City.

DURANT (3-7), BRANDON (5-5) and TAMPA BAY TECH (0-10) have completed regular season play.
