The Inverness Festival of the Arts transforms the Courthouse Square into an open-air arts bazaar today and Sunday.

The Festival of the Arts, sponsored by the Citrus County Art League, brings in hundreds of regional and local artists who compete for awards in the juried show. They will set up their exhibits on the lawn of the Historic Courthouse.

Visitors can park in any of the free parking lots on Martin Luther King Avenue, behind the new courthouse or next to the Sheriff's Office. The lot behind City Hall is partially closed because of construction, but some spaces will be available there, as well.

Festival admission is free. Most of the Courthouse Square art galleries and restaurants will be open both today and Sunday to accommodate the festival.

There are plenty of other activities going on this weekend.

Eddie Miles, an acclaimed Elvis impersonator, brings his act to Curtis Peterson Auditorium. Miles will perform a "Legends of Country Music" concert at 8 p.m. today at the auditorium, which is on the campus of Lecanto High School, off County Road 491 S in Lecanto. The show has been praised by Scotty Moore, Elvis' guitar player, and J.D. Sumner, another Presley band member, for its uncanny impersonation.

Rockabilly U.S. will have concerts at 3 and 6 p.m. today at the Citrus County Auditorium, at the fairgrounds on U.S. 41 S, Inverness. The show features a 12-piece band that performs a 90-minute variety music show featuring a total of 40 performers. Admission for the show is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors (55 and older) and $7 for students under 18. The second show is a benefit for the Citrus County Historical Society.

Dark and Stormy Night, a comic twist on the murder mystery genre, continues through Sunday at Playhouse 19. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $15 adult, $10 student. The remainder of the season package may be obtained for $60 for the five remaining shows, or $28 for the two remaining musicals. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Playhouse 10 is at 865 N Suncoast Blvd. (U.S. 19), Crystal River. Call 563-1333.

The Floral City Acoustic Music Series presents the group 2PM in a benefit concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Floral City Community Building, 8370 E Orange Ave., next to the library. The group is: Pete Price, Pete Hennings and Mike Jurgensen. Open mike follows. Admission is $7, and all proceeds from this concert will go to benefit the Citrus United Basket.
