Army National Guard Pfc. Emerson D. Favreau has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Over eight weeks, he received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses. He is the son of Dennis and Wendy Favreau of Oldsmar. Favreau is a 2005 graduate of East Lake High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit David I. Beck, son of Maria L. and Mark E. Beck of Largo, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Over eight weeks, he received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses. Beck is a 2005 graduate of Gibbs High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit John M. Parapon, son of Cheryl L. and Perry P. Parapon of Largo, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Over eight weeks, he received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses. Parapon is a 2005 graduate of Osceola High School.

Army Cpl. Walter E. Craig Jr., a member of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Shooting Team from Fort Benning, participated in the National Rifle Championship at Camp Perry, Ohio. The Army Service Rifle Team members won trophy awards in the High Power Rifle matches. They also won the 10-Man Team Rifle Match, Service Rifle Interservice Championship matches, and the Marine Corps Combat Development Command and the Marine Corps Infantry Trophy team matches at the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Va. The team won the National Trophy Rifle Team Match, and received the "Dogs of War" National Trophy. Craig, a service rifle and pistol shooter, is a member of the 2005 Winning Roumanian Trophy Team; the Winning Division-A, Long-Range Interservice Championship Team; the Interservice Excellence in Competition Match: the U.S. Army Small Arms Championship Team; the General Patton Pistol Match Championship Team; the Sergeant Major of the Army Pistol Match Championship Team; and the Combat Assault Pistol Match Championship Match. He joined the Army in 2003 and was assigned to the marksmanship unit in 2004. Craig is the son of Walter E. Craig Sr. of Cleveland, Tenn., and Margaret A. Firetto of Palm Harbor. He is a 1986 graduate of Cleveland High School.
