Burning images of 'Potter' premiere
By SHARON FINK

You know all those pictures from high school that make you cringe 20 years later because you were afflicted by a bad fashion pandemic?
Here's one that two of the three main players in the Harry Potter movies will want to burn.
Rupert Grint, left, who plays Ron Weasley in the series, showed up for the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Sunday in London in an outfit supplied by thrift-store reject bins throughout the city. (At least that's our educated guess.)
Emma Watson, middle, who plays Hermione Granger, wore what she said was a vintage dress from the 1920s that was made for "a past screen goddess" she wouldn't name. "I thought it was quite appropriate that I wear it," she said in a BBC report. We say the only appropriate occasion for this outfit, including that '20s flapper headband from the Warner Bros. prop department, requires a trick-or-treat bag as an accessory, too.
The only one with nothing to fear from this picture is the saga's star, Daniel Radcliffe. Never underestimate the power of a good three-piece suit.
SHE'S A BUSY WOMAN. SHE DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO READ BIG BOOKS: Madonna attended with daughter Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, 9. Mom said she's a big Potter fan, but "I'm here for Lola (Lourdes' nickname)," the BBC reported. Madonna, who has put out a few children's stories with herself listed as the author, says Potter creator J.K. Rowling writes books that are "clear and entertaining and smart," and that children and adults can enjoy. Not that she's read any of them. "Lola has read them all. I just watch the movies."
WEIRD, WHETHER THEY SAY SO OR NOT: Jarvis Cocker, lead singer of the British alt-rock band Pulp, got an invitation because he's in the movie as a member of the wizarding world's big rock band, the Weird Sisters, and he wrote two of their songs. Things to know about the Weird Sisters: In the movie, the band is made up of men - Radiohead guitarist Johnny Greenwood and drummer Phil Selway are the others - and it doesn't have a name because after moviemaker Warner Bros. decided to change the spelling of Weird to Wyrd, a Canadian folk band called the Wyrd Sisters took it to court.
GIVING HOPE TO MEN EVERYWHERE: For all those who think the sitcom staple of hot woman married to dorky-looking man is a great work of fiction, we offer supermodel Claudia Schiffer, right, arriving with her husband, director Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake ).
STEAL THIS LOOK: We nominate Robert Pattinson, portrayer of Goblet of Fire's noble, well-intentioned, SPOILER ALERT doomed END SPOILER ALERT , stand-up guy Cedric Diggory, as the guy most likely to wear the holiday party ensemble that SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT will be recommended in a fashion column debuting in Saturday's St. Petersburg Times.
