NEW PORT RICHEY - The trial began Monday for a Holiday man accused of slashing his neighbor's throat in order to steal his prescription drugs.

Wayne Francis Brasby, 34, was charged with attempted murder and burglary in the Dec. 1, 2004, incident.

His attorney suggested in court Monday that victim Francis Coletto had been planning to sell pain pills to Brasby - which Coletto denied on the witness stand.

If convicted, Brasby faces up to 30 years in prison for the attempted murder and 15 years for the burglary. The trial resumes today.
