Fire volunteers need to think about community
Letters to the Editor
Published November 11, 2005
The now-decertified Volunteer Fire Station should remember that it is citizens' and residents' donations that paid for the station, not personal dollars of Mr. Price.
While I understand he may have placed a considerable number of years and sweat equity into the station, Mr. Price should have considered what the ramifications of his actions would cause the community prior to making those poor choices.
It is now time for the volunteer corporation to realize this and consider what is best for the community.
It is time for it to concede and deed the property back to the taxpayers and residents of the area.

Land swap story missed a few important points
Re: Land swap to result in more development, Oct. 28
Who would pay $2,000,000 for largely undevelopable wetlands? Most of the 78 acres that the county got is wetlands. All of the 13 acres that Little Harbor acquired is high and dry waterfront. Who got the better deal? The developer, of course. Who got worse deal? The Ruskin community, of course. You need to do more homework before you write an article like this. Shame on you!
