St. Petersburg's Les Foerster topped NABI competitors for the second straight weekend, capturing $300 in Club 570 action at AMF Clearwater. Taking first-prize winnings in Sarasota two weekends ago, Foerster on Sunday defeated Helen Cruz of Bartow 190-152, averaging 170.
Club 577 is scheduled to be at AMF Venice this Sunday. PREPS: With just two weeks remaining in the Pinellas County High School League season, the Osceola boys and Tarpon Springs girls are clinging to scratch leads. After Week 12, Osceola - led by Travis Reichert's 234/666 - has 192 points. Following the Warriors is Pinellas Park (182).
Tarpon Springs' Spongers, with Ashly Galante's 268/728 last week, have 204. It is a half point better than Seminole's 2031/2. In handicapped action, the Largo boys (156) are holding off Pinellas Park (150). The Lakewood girls (1801/2), sparked by Heather Hoffman's 153-127-119-399, extended their margin over Pinellas Park to 22 points. In junior varsity competition, Largo No. 2 continues to maintain the lead with 1791/2 points. Next is Northeast at 1721/2. On Thursday, the league was at Liberty Lanes. The season's final action is scheduled for Nov. 17 at Seminole Lanes.
