INVERNESS - Amber Jordan scored twice, leading Citrus to a 5-0 district win over Crystal River on Thursday.
Citrus (2-0, 2-0) scored first when Crystal River's (1-1, 1-1) Yuri Palhof booted the ball into the Pirates net for an own goal five minutes into the game. Jordan scored her first goal off a Kayla Nelson pass, booting the ball in from 5 yards out with the game eight minutes old.
Jordan scored her second 60 minutes in with an assist from Erica Stanley. Nikki Krause knocked in a shot in from 20 yards out in the 69th minute.
The contest was physical. Crystal River goalkeeper Robyn Tisdale injured her collar bone on a collision and Citrus' Jennifer Nelson left the game with a possible concussion.
Jordan had one easy goal and was surprised by how her team dominated.
"On the first one, I tapped it in," Jordan said. "On the second one, Erica Stanley had a fast break. The person who was marking me left me wide open. I just got to the ball. Erica passed to me and shot it in. We came out thinking we would do good but not this well."
"I think we just got beat thoroughly in every aspect of the game," Crystal River coach Robert McDougal said. "They just outplayed us. The better team won."
