Synovus Bank of Tampa Bay, announces these appointments: Cami Austin, vice president and community executive for Pasco County; Stephen R. "Bart" Johnson, vice president/commercial lending, Clearwater; Michael Shaefer, vice president and commercial lender, Bradenton; and Cheryl Wade, vice president and branch manager for the Enterprise Road branch office in Clearwater. Austin was manager of the Port Richey office; Johnson was vice president/commercial banking at Union Planters Bank, Cleveland, Tenn.; Shaefer was vice president/business banking with SouthTrust Bank, St. Petersburg; and Wade was vice president and branch manager with Fifth Third Bank, Dunedin.

Thomas J. Hawkinson has been named director of insurance products at GunnAllen Financial, Tampa. Hawkinson was managing vice president in the southeastern U.S. territory at USAllianz in Minneapolis.

Nicholas Financial Inc., Clearwater, announces these appointments: Chad Steinorth, corporate vice president of finance and corporate controller; and Laura S. Botto, director of human resources. Steinorth was controller; and Botto was a regional trainer in the human resources department at Whitney Bank, Palm Harbor.

ProVise Management Group LLC, Clearwater, announces these appointments: Karen Johnson, vice president; Richard Baker, vice president; and Nancy Croy, vice president of financial planning. Johnson was vice president/relationship manager at Wachovia Wealth Management, St. Petersburg; and Baker and Croy were assistant vice presidents.
