ST. PETERSBURG - A 22-year-old man was found dead in his apartment early Tuesday, police said, marking the city's 28th homicide this year.

The man, identified by family as Dalvontae Coley, had been shot several times. Police said they received an anonymous call that Coley could be found at the apartment, at 1339 28th Street S Apt. 1, and responded just after 2 a.m.

Police had not released other details as of Tuesday afternoon.

Coley was a father of two young children, said his cousin, 19-year-old Mychelle Talbert. He had attended Dixie Hollins High School and worked various jobs.

"He wasn't the type of person who bothered with anybody," Talbert said. "He was more of an introvert, kept to himself."

Police ask anyone with information to call Detective Ron Noodwang at 892-5545.
