Fall activities crowd calendar

ST. PETE BEACH - The annual Family Fall Festival, sponsored by the city recreation department, will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Upham Beach (6850 Beach Plaza). Radio Disney will entertain from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by light music from 6 to 8 p.m. Kids' activities will include Radio Disney, games, raffles and face painting. Belleair Beach

Social bridge is held at 1 p.m. every Thursday until April at City Hall, 444 Causeway Blvd. Bring a partner or one will be provided. For more information, call Nora Harvey at 733-7138.

Indian Rocks Beach

The North Beaches YMCA will host a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) on Saturday. The trip is designed for active older adults, who will view "Bodies, the Exhibition." Transportation, which will cost $4, will be by bus, departing from Indian Rocks Beach Town Hall at 9 a.m. and returning at 3 p.m. Participants will pay for their own admission at MOSI. Ticket prices are $19.95 and $16.95 for those over 60. For information or reservations, call 595-5610, or stop at the YMCA office at 500 Second Street, Indian Rocks Beach.

Indian Shores

The 22nd annual Indian Shores/Redingtons Holiday Boat Parade will cruise up the Intracoastal Waterway Dec. 18. Rain date is Dec 19. Some 35 festively decorated and lighted boats of all sizes, sail and motor powered, are expected to rendezvous at 5:45 p.m. north of the Madeira Beach Causeway Bridge.

At 6 p.m., Captain Dave Will and his sailboat will lead the boats north up the waterway through the residential fingers of the three Redingtons and along the coast of Indian Shores to the Pub restaurant's dock, arriving at about 8:30 p.m. for awards ceremonies and refreshments.

Vessels will be judged in three classes from vantage points along the route. Prizes will be awarded in three categories.

Best public viewing areas are DeBello Park just north of Shells in Redington Shores and, in Indian Shores, the Pinellas County boat launch at Park Boulevard and the Estelle Harper Park behind town hall. North Redington Beach

The city's annual holiday tree lighting ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 in Radcliffe Park on South Bath Club Boulevard. The event will include music and refreshments. For more information, call 391-4848.

Redington Beach

A holiday tree lighting, sponsored by the Redington Beach Property Owners, will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Town Park, Gulf Boulevard and 164th Street E.

Beginning at 4:15 p.m., Santa Claus will tour the town on a lighted firetruck before arriving at Town Park to greet children and receive their Christmas Wish letters and join families at a refreshment table laden with hot cider and cookies.

Vice Mayor Linda Wilson will light the Christmas tree at 6 p.m. The tree, decorations and cookies are donated by the Redington Beach Garden Club. For more information, contact Paul Warren at 480-3147 or 394-8978.

Redington Shores

A townwide garage sale will be held Friday and Saturday. Sale activities begin each day at 8 a.m. Those needing help with setting up or pricing should call Ed Magaldi at 397-1256.

Treasure Island

Tennis and golf camps for juniors, ages 6 to 14 years, will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday through Friday, at the city of Treasure Island's Treasure Bay facility at 10315 Paradise Blvd.

Cost for each camp is $20 a day or $75 a week. There will be no camp on Thanksgiving, Nov. 24. Preregistration is preferred for both camps. For additional information, call Treasure Bay at 360-6062 or visit www.treasurebaygolfandtennis.com

Santa will personally answer letters from boys and girls who drop off or mail letters to his mailbox in front of Treasure Island City Hall at 120 108th Ave., Treasure Island, FL 33706, between Dec. 1 and 16. Santa's elves remind everyone to have a return address on their letters.

The annual Treasure Island holiday parade and tree lighting ceremony will be held Dec. 3 at the Treasure Island Community Center and Park, Gulf Boulevard at 106th Avenue.

The parade will start at 4 p.m. at Treasure Bay, 10315 Paradise Blvd., and move down 107th Avenue, around the Clock Tower to First Street E, and turn right on 106th Avenue to the community center.

The parade will feature the Admiral Farragut marching band, Santa and Mrs. Claus, antique cars, Mrs. Pinellas County America, local clubs and organizations and much more.

After the parade, children will be able to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the community center from 5 to 6:30 pm. At 6:45 pm, Santa and Mayor Mary Maloof will light the city's holiday decorations. The event is free to the public. A holiday recreational camp will be offered by the Treasure Island Recreation Department for children 5 to 10 years, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 19 through Dec. 30.

Extended care will be provided until 5:30 p.m. for an additional fee. There will be no camp on Dec. 26. Activities will include holiday parties, arts and crafts, movies, games and field trips.

The fee for the program is $20 per day or $90 for the first week and $70 for the second week for residents of Treasure Island. Cost for nonresidents is $30 per day or $140 for the first week and $110 for the second week.

Registration begins Nov. 28 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the recreation office inside City Hall at 120 108th Ave. Payment is due at registration. Enrollment is limited to 50 children. For more information, contact Cathy Hayduke, recreation director, at 547-4575.

A two-week golf and tennis camp for juniors, 6 years of age and older, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 19 through Dec. 30 at the city recreation department's Treasure Bay facility, 10315 Paradise Blvd. The camp fees, including instruction and snacks, are $20 per day or $90 per week per child.
