The Professional Bowlers Association has started a special membership drive.
The organization has adjusted requirements and waived fees for individuals wanting to become a member.
To join, a bowler must have a 200 average or better in the most recent league season (at least 36 games) and a 190 average or better in a sanctioned USBC sport-bowling league. Or, competitors can cash in at a PBA Regional Tournament as a non-member.
A special promotion forgoing initiation fees ($99) and reinstatement costs ($198) continues through Feb. 28, 2006. A full membership is $239.40 annually or $19.95 per month. A standard membership is $107.40 per year or $8.95 a month.

NABI: Carl Dean of St. Petersburg defeated Sarasota's Mary Hammett in a semifinal of Club 577's outing Sunday.
In the championship, Dean lost 246-197 to Levi Buzzell from Lakeland. Dean won $80 after averaging 165.
Club 577 will be at Kegel Training Center, 1951 Longleaf Boulevard in Lake Wales, this Sunday. The jackpot is $320 and the strike-pot $280. The NABI will be at Seminole Lanes on Dec. 11.
PREPS: The Pinellas County High School League's final scratch standings are in.
Last week, the Osceola boys captured 17 of 21 points from Pinellas Park in the last position round to finish with 214. Pinellas Park (204) was second. Northeast, sparked by Kenny Gernhardt's 258-211/640 and C.T. Maxey's 265/638, posted 2011/2 points.
Osceola bowler Matt Corsetti held the high average through the season and finished with 213.09.
In the girls competition, Tarpon Springs closed out the schedule by taking 15 of 21 points for 239. The team's Ashly Galante led all scorers with 219/676 and finished with the high average (210.71).
Seminole (2261/2) and Northeast (199) were second and third, respectively, in the standings.
HIGH SCORERS: Ziggy Podlas rolled 279-300-300-879 at Seminole Lanes last week.
Glenn Harger (268 game/914 series) and Jerry Koenig (270/942) led the Florida Men's Senior Stars. Lyman Sosbey (254/703) paced the Mainlands Golf Super Seniors, competitors 75-and-older. In the Karen Wornicki Invitational, Sam Morrison bowled 279/761 and Ken Carpenter 246/729.
Other top performances were turned in by Cindy Hall (300), Dennis Slininger (300/792), Jerry Hood (762), Leroy Goffer (745), Mike Byrd (284/741), Mildred Crosby (258/643), Tammy Weber (246/628), Sis Etheridge (222/622), Edna Berry (220/605), Mike Pittman (287), Mike Foss (279), Ron Demillion (278) and Art Brunner (277).
