The 30-year-old man went missing on Thursday night; his boat was found near the Courtney Campbell Parkway.

SAFETY HARBOR - Rescuers are searching Friday for a 30-year-old Oldsmar man whose motorized canoe washed ashore empty on the side of the Courtney Campbell Parkway.

The man, Terrence Matthew Orndoff, launched from Philippe Park in Safety Harbor around 1 p.m. Thursday. Family reported him missing around 9 p.m. when he had not returned home.

His light blue, 15-foot "gheenoe" was discovered early Friday on the north bank of the parkway, about 11/2 miles west of the center bridge. The motor was not in the boat, but emergency officials did find a life jacket, two cushions and two oars. The vessel appeared to be seaworthy, said U.S. Coast Guard spokeswoman Tasha Tully.
