Body of Oldsmar boater found

By Times Staff
Published November 21, 2005

The 30-year-old man went out Thursday with his new motorized canoe and never returned.

The body of a missing Oldsmar man was found Sunday floating north of the Courtney Campbell Parkway.

Terrence Orndorf, 30, had been missing since Thursday, when he launched his 15-foot motorized canoe at the Philippe Park boat ramp in Safety Harbor. His boat was found Friday without the motor, almost 3 miles south, along the Courtney Campbell Parkway.

A passer-by found Orndorf's body about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. It was found a quarter mile north of the center span of the parkway, Pinellas County sheriff's spokeswoman Marianne Pasha said.

Orndorf was identified after his wallet was found in the pocket of his shorts.

Because Orndorf's body was found in the jurisdiction of Tampa police, it is now with the Hillsborough Medical Examiner's Office, Pasha said.
