USF gets practice in, disperses

TAMPA - USF coach Jim Leavitt wasn't the only one thinking about turkey Thursday, holding a short practice for his players before most went home for the holiday.

"Everyone has something to do or somewhere to go," Leavitt said after a 90-minute morning practice. "It seems to be a nice day, and everyone is headed home."

Leavitt also said not everyone was able to get home or away from campus.

"A lot of (the players) will take other players with them," Leavitt said. "If there are some guys who don't have anywhere to go, they will go with me and we'll have a turkey sandwich and sit around and talk.

"We will all have plans."

BUNDLE UP: Game-time temperature for Saturday at Connecticut is predicted to be about 39 degrees, but it isn't bothering Leavitt.

"We'll ignore it," Leavitt said. "We'll go out and play and hopefully not notice."

Leavitt said jokingly after Saturday's win over Cincinnati that, "It's going to be freezing cold, probably snowdrifts. You'll probably see huskies running all over, and your eyelids will be frozen shut."
