Man accused of beating girlfriend, taking her truck

HUDSON - A neighbor told deputies she saw James Daniel Frabasillo stomping on something she thought was probably trash.

But it wasn't trash.

It was his girlfriend, sheriff's reports say. Earlier, she had told him to move out.

A sheriff's report says Frabasillo, 39, told Christina Slatton, 52, that he would kill her Thanksgiving night and choked her until she passed out. The report says he beat her and used a box cutter to slash her face. Then, the report says, he stole her truck.

Slatton was treated at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point for cuts on her nose and above her eyebrow. Her eyes were swollen shut, and a CAT scan showed hemorrhaging to the brain and fractures to the bones in her face. But sheriff's officials said she is expected to recover.

Frabasillo, of 6518 Tower Road, was arrested at home Friday and was being held in the county jail Saturday on charges of grand theft auto and aggravated domestic battery.

Pasco-Pinellas Circuit Judge Wayne Cobb set his bail Saturday at $10,000.

18-year-old Ridgewood High School student shot

NEW PORT RICHEY - An 18-year-old Ridgewood High School student showed up at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point early Saturday with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was driven there about 6 a.m. by another 18-year-old Ridgewood High School student in a van pierced with bullet holes, sheriff's Sgt. Raymond Stanley said.

The gunshot victim, whom Stanley did not identify, was conscious and his wound was not life-threatening. The bullet penetrated and exited his scalp without entering his skull, Stanley said.

After the hospital staff notified the Sheriff's Office, the teen told deputies somebody had tried to rob him. But what little information both teens provided conflicted with other evidence, Stanley said.

Deputies were investigating the incident Saturday, and believed it may have taken place near one of two U.S. 19 clubs, Nocturnal and Critters, where it appeared the teens had been, Stanley said.
