Dickson helps USF pull away

TAMPA - Jessica Dickson had 33 points, including 11 of USF's final 13, as the Bulls survived a scare from Maryland-Baltimore County in a 66-56 win in the opening round of the Roundball Classic on Saturday.
USF (4-0) has its longest winning streak to start a season since going 7-0 in 2001-02. The Bulls face Robert Morris at 2 p.m. today in the title game.
The Retrievers erased a seven-point deficit to tie it at 53 on Brittnie Hughes' 3-pointer with 5:15 left. The Bulls held UMBC scoreless the rest of the way.
Rachael Sheats left 1:33 into the game with a right knee injury. Her status is unknown.
FSU 75, W.CAROLINA 67: Britany Miller had 19 points and 14 rebounds, and she and her fellow freshmen combined for 46 points for Florida State in the first round of the Seminole Classic. The Seminoles (3-1) play Montana for the title at 3 p.m. today.
TAMPA 69, COLO.-CS: Tay Mathis scored a career-high 30 for the Spartans (5-1) at the Colorado Christian Classic in Denver.
AUGUSTANA 70, ECKERD 55: Alison Adamson had 14 points to lead the visiting Mustangs (4-0).
FLA. SOUTHERN 71, FLAGLER 57: Sarah Pavelecky had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the host Moccasins (2-2).
