Participants sought for Christmas card display

BROOKSVILLE - The Hernando County Recreation Department is seeking participants for its annual Christmas Cards on the Lawn, which will be on display Dec. 12-28 on the courthouse lawn at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St.

Schools, churches and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to participate. Supplies needed include a 4- by 8-foot sheet of plywood with two braces to be anchored with rebar; at least one spotlight, but no more than two; a 24-hour timer; a short extension cord or power strip to connect lights and timer; and a 50-foot extension cord to connect the card unit to the power supply.

The program is provided by the Recreation Department in cooperation with the Brooksville Kiwanis Club.

Advance registration is required. Those interested may call Christie Williams at 754-4031.

Sounds of the Season concert tickets available

SPRING HILL - Tickets are available for the Sounds of the Season concert featuring the Silvertones from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the parish hall at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 13485 Spring Hill Drive.

The event is the annual charity fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus Council 11317 Ladies Auxiliary. Refreshments will be served during intermission.

Tickets are $10 each. Call Carol at 688-1685, Kathleen at 666-7744 or the parish office at 688-0663.

Master gardener calendars available

BROOKSVILLE - Hernando County master gardener calendars are available at the Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service, 19490 Oliver St.

The calendar offers information that will guide readers in the care of their lawn and landscape plants. The horticultural information is written by urban horticulture agent Jim Moll. The gardening information is specific to Hernando County.

The price for each calendar is $3. Supplies are limited.

The extension office cannot mail out calendars; they must be purchased in person. For information, call 754-4433.
