By Times Staff
Published November 30, 2005

The city of Tampa is set to receive a $1.3-million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help people with HIV/AIDS.

HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson will be in Tampa today to announce details of the grant.

The city of Tampa each year administers almost $3-million in HUD grants used by nonprofit charities to provide housing to people with AIDS. The program was established in 1990.

This is the first year the city has received an extra grant on top of the annual allotment.
