Church Women United to support farm workers

Church Women United of Greater St. Petersburg will hold its Farm Worker Ingathering on Friday at Albright United Methodist Church, 2750 Fifth Ave. N, St. Petersburg.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the program at 10. This year's speaker will be Maria McCourt, a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Tampa, where she is involved in a lay ministry to farm workers. McCourt works with farm worker camps in Hillsborough County and is a member of a farm worker support group.
Those who attend should take children's clothing and toys, used adult clothing and household items, which will be sent to Dade City Self-Help.
Pinellas Park church to give children gifts
Praise Cathedral Renewal Center in Pinellas Park will distribute toys, gifts and bicycles to children in the city after a Christmas presentation and dinner Dec. 9.
Children should attend with adult supervision. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the church, at 4371 76th Ave. N.
Workshop to offer help coping with problems
Get help coping with issues such as depression, gambling, alcohol or drug abuse, and general loss of control over life at a Dec. 17 workshop at Grace Lutheran Church, 4301 16th St. N. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Les Ambush, facilitator of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance and an addiction speaker, and psychologist Joseph D. Carella will present a "toolbox" for coping with life's problems. Fee is $15. Call 822-3480 or 418-3464 for reservations.
Meditation talk is Thursday at library
