All things Armwood

How has life treated Armwood kicker Darren deRochemont since he booted the winning field goal in Friday's 23-21 come-from-behind victory over Winter Haven?
Good. Really good.
"I've been having a great week," the junior said.
By his own admission, deRochemont had been somewhat erratic this season (You may recall he botched an extra point in the Hawks' 21-20 season-opening loss to Hillsborough). But after missing an extra point in the first quarter against Winter Haven, he came through with field goals of 27, 47 and 35 yards. The latter came with 8:39 left as his parents, three uncles and girlfriend watched in the stands.
"I'm very confident now," deRochemont said.

Every Armwood coach and player has a visor with the words "Armwood football" stitched on the front and "Goin' to Miami" on the side. Friday's state semifinal against Miami Washington will be played in Miami as will next week's Class 4A final.
The visors aren't new. They were handed out after the Hawks clinched the District 12 title with a win over Auburndale on Oct.14.
"That was something we kept to ourselves," Armwood coach Sean Callahan said.

The Hawks will leave for South Florida on Thursday and spend the night in Miami. Friday, they plan to tour the football facilities at nearby Florida Atlantic, which is in Boca Raton.
