MELBOURNE - A teenager was arrested Tuesday after allegedly fatally shooting his father and stepmother in the family's trailer home.

Matthew Wayne Almand, 18, faces murder charges in the deaths of Rodney Wayne Almand and Jacqueline Almand, both 38, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said.

Matthew Almand entered the trailer wearing a black bandanna over his face and shot his father and stepmother several times early Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office said.

His stepsister, McKenzie Almand, 7, was in the trailer and called 911, sheriff's Sgt. Bruce Barnett said.

Officials did not know the a motive for the killings. "The only thing we can figure out was he was unhappy with his parents," Barnett said. "He didn't care for their rules and restrictions."

The 18-year-old had brief comments for reporters as he was being led to a police car.

"I love you Mom and Grandma and McKenzie," Matthew Almand said.

Matthew Almand had been working for a company that cleans up hurricane debris and recently returned home, officials and neighbors said. His biological mother lives in Arizona.
