CRYSTAL RIVER - Julian Palhof scored two first-half goals to lead Crystal River past Dunnellon 5-0 in a Class 4A, District 6 matchup Thursday.
In the 19th minute, Palhof, a senior, took a pass from Johnathan Livesay and headed the ball in. In the 31st, he scored his seventh of the season on a shot from 12 yards. Chris Fleming assisted on the goal.
Fleming also assisted on Chris Dobson's goal in the 67th. John Gusha scored his first career goal, unassisted, and Livesay capped the scoring in the 78th on a corner kick.
Crystal River (5-1-4, 5-0-2 4A-6) had 36 shots on goal, and Matt Futch made 21 saves for Dunnellon (1-6, 1-5). But Palhof said his team didn't play its best.
"I didn't think we did that well," he said. "We weren't passing it around much. I think we really relaxed and weren't taking it seriously."
"We moved very well," Crystal River coach Steve Ekeli said. "My bench guys had playing time. It was a good game for our guys, (but) communication is a huge problem for us."
