NEW PORT RICHEY - River Ridge's Brittany Castelamare will play in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association all-star game Saturday in Gainesville.
Castelamare, a senior setter, broke her own school record with 794 assists while helping the Royal Knights to the region semifinals this season.
She had a team-leading 186 kills and 382 service points to go with 69 blocks.
Aside from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in Castelamare's left knee that sidelined her for her sophomore season, Castelamare contributed to a River Ridge squad that won conference and district championships each of her four seasons.
In October, she was named the FACA District 8, Class 5A player of the year and a finalist for the state high school player of the year for the second straight season.
District 8 includes schools from Pasco, Sumter, Hernando, Citrus and Lake counties.
River Ridge coach Heidi Castelamare, who is Brittany's mother, will coach in the all-star game, which starts at noon at Buchholz High.
