Holiday cheer on parade today in Crystal River
Entertainment choices with seasonal flavor are among the weekend's offerings as Christmas and New Year's draw near.

The holidays are in high gear, and the Crystal River Christmas Parade today will surely draw a crowd as floats and marching bands bring out the season's cheer.
The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and travels south on U.S. 19 from Citrus Avenue to Paradise Point Road. The parade can be viewed only from the shoulders of the southbound lanes of U.S. 19.
Other weekend entertainment activities include:
--Floral City Heritage Days will present an old-Florida cow camp in the vacant field adjacent to the Church of Christ, 8599 E Marvin St. Demonstrators of the early daily living skills and trades gather in the Church of Christ lot.
Food includes roasted pig on a spit, hoppin' John (black-eyed peas with rice), corn bread, barbecued chicken and ribs, baked beans, coleslaw and home baked pies and desserts. The Floral City Library, next to the community building, has a "Fudge and Fiction" offering with homemade fudge. Live folk music on two stages. Admission is free.
A companion event is the tour of eight historic homes and buildings. The self-guided tour lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Several of the homes are within a block. Others can be reached by car.
--The Toys for Tots motorcycle run begins at noon today in Crystal River and travels down State Road 44 to the Citrus County Auditorium on U.S. 41 S.
--Guitar virtuoso Richard Gilewitz and musical partner pianist David Webb will perform a "Strings & Keys" concert starting at 8 p.m. today at the Art Center Theatre. An artists reception will be at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at www.richardgilewitz.com or from the Art League box office at 2644 N Annapolis Ave., Citrus Hills. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students. Proceeds from the concert will go to the Art Center Theater Building Fund. Box office is open Tuesday through Sunday. Call 746-7606.
--Playhouse 19, 865 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River, will have a special two-week run of My Three Angels . The show will run Thursdays through Sundays through Dec. 11. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $15. For ticket information, call the box office at 563-1333.
