Sami Al-Arian trial:

Former University of South Florida professor Sami Al-Arian and three co-defendants are on trial in federal court, accused of using Islamic charities as fronts in a conspiracy to finance terrorist attacks by Palestinian Islamic Jihad. With the trial expected to last six months, the St. Petersburg Times is providing a summary highlighting last week's important developments.

THE LATEST: Jurors left the federal courthouse Friday afternoon without verdicts. They had been deliberating for 11 full days spread over three weeks, without expressing dissent or confusion to the court about matching the 51-count indictment with the evidence.

Still, because of the lengthy deliberations, jury experts speculated there must be some disagreement.

WHAT'S NEXT: Today, jurors continue deliberating and have set a deliberation schedule through Thursday.
