COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Christine Sinclair scored two goals and Portland beat UCLA 4-0 in the NCAA women's soccer national title game Sunday.
Angie Woznuk added a goal and two assist for the Pilots, who won their second title in three years. Portland beat Santa Clara 2-1 in the 2002 final.
This year, Portland (24-0-2) became the only team other than North Carolina to finish an unbeaten season with a title. The Tar Heels have won 10 of their 17 titles after undefeated seasons.
Sinclair, a member of the Canadian national team, set an NCAA single-season record with 39 goals. SMU's Lisa Cole had 37 goals in 1987.
The senior was already the NCAA Tournament's all-time goal scorer and finished with 25.
The Bruins (22-2-2), who outscored their first five tournament opponents 25-0, lost in the title game for the second straight year. UCLA had shut out 17 of its previous 19 tournament opponents, but Woznuk scored 92 seconds in, the Pilots' fastest goal of the season.
DIVING: Florida's Jonathan Wilcox was No. 1 among 12 platform divers at the Ohio State Invitational; Whitney Stern of Safety Harbor was 11th among the women.
VOLLEYBALL: Eighth-seeded Florida faces No.9 Louisville in the Omaha Region semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday. The Gators advanced for the 14th time in 15 seasons under coach Mary Wise by sweeping Florida Atlantic in the first round Thursday and Kansas State on Friday.
