CHRISTMAS CONCERT: The Inverness Middle School Jazz Band and chorus will present a holiday concert at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 in the school cafeteria. The concert is free, but donations will be collected for Habitat for Humanity's Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. Call Barbara Dover at 726-1471.
CHRISTMAS FOR KIDS: Children ages 3-12 are invited to the annual Christmas for Kids held each year at St. Paul's Lutheran School. The event will be 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. There will be crafts, songs and other activities, including lunch. There is no charge. Bring your children and their friends. This will give parents an opportunity to shop or just relax at home. CITRUS HIGH YEARBOOKS FOR SALE: The Citrus High School yearbook staff is selling CHS yearbooks from 1998 to 2005 at $25 each.
BUSINESS DEGREE AVAILABLE SOON: Beginning in spring 2006, students can earn an Associate in Science degree in business administration at the Central Florida Community College Citrus campus.
With this degree, students can transfer seamlessly to a bachelor's degree business program at any state university in Florida.
This new program will round out the campus' business program selection, which already includes college credit certificates in marketing, business operations, business administration and office software applications management. CLASSROOM MAKEOVER CONTEST: Students in grades 4-8 are invited by EXPO Markers to visit www.expomarkers.com and enter the EXPO Classroom Makeover Contest with a chance to win one of five grand prize $10,000 makeovers for their classrooms, complete with EXPO dry erase boards, markers, accessories, fresh paint and a new design with an emphasis on color.
Students are asked to write an online essay of 100 words or less describing how their teacher makes learning fun. Each winning student will receive a new Dell personal computer. Deadline is midnight Dec. 15. Contest winners will be announced in January.
CRYSTAL RIVER MIDDLE SAEC MEETING: Crystal River Middle School will hold a School Advisory Enhancement Council meeting from 3 to 4:30 p.m. today in the upstairs administrative conference room. The meetings are open to the public.
