Head-on collision kills Homosassa man, 24

SPRING HILL - A Homosassa man died in a head-on car crash in Spring Hill on Friday.

Richard A. Couey, 24, was killed when the car he was driving was struck by a car that had crossed the center line and veered into his lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He lived at 5554 Victoria Point, Homosassa, according to the FHP. Couey was southbound on Monteverde Drive, approaching Falkirk Lane in Spring Hill, in northern Pasco County, when a car driven by Robert A. Woods, 35, of 17834 Drayton St. in Spring Hill, crossed the center line and collided with Couey's car shortly before 10 p.m. Woods was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. No word on his condition was available. Couey died at the scene, according to the FHP.
