An 83-year-old Palm Harbor woman died Sunday after losing control of her car as she drove north on a slick State Road 595.

At about noon, Pauline S. Burger of 1534 Glengarry Drive, Palm Harbor, drove her 1995 Grand Marquis onto the grassy shoulder of the roadway as she approached the intersection of Whisper Lake Road in Palm Harbor, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

She pulled back on S.R. 595 but lost control. The back of the car spun into the path of an oncoming 1999 Aerostar SEL. The Aerostar, driven by Gregory A. Buschman, 40, of Palm Harbor hit the left side of the Grand Marquis.

Also in the Aerostar were Debra Y. Buschman, 40, Luke A. Buschman, 12, and Sophia G. Buschman, 7.

Burger was pronounced dead at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs, according to the FHP.

Debra and Gregory Buschman were treated and released from Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, a hospital spokesman said Sunday night.

Conditions of the children were not available.
