LSU woman tops 2,000

BATON ROUGE, La. - Seimone Augustus scored 23 and became the fourth player in team history with 2,000 in her career, leading No.3 LSU to a 72-41 victory over New Orleans on Monday night.
Augustus entered eight points shy of the milestone and scored seven in the first six minutes. She made a short jumper in the lane with 5:08 left in the first half to surpass the mark and join Joyce Walker (2,906), Julie Gross (2,488) and Cornelia Gayden (2,451).
Augustus shot 9-of-12 for the Tigers (5-0) and finished with six rebounds before leaving with 11 minutes left.
NO.16 DePAUL 89, NIU 46: Allie Quigley matched her season high with 23 points to lead the host Blue Demons (9-1).
NO.5 BAYLOR: Angela Tisdale, the Bears' second leading scorer, was suspended for three games for violating team rules.
NO.13 NOTRE DAME: Coach Muffet McGraw is back at work after being hospitalized for 12 days for what she described as an acute illness . McGraw would not be more specific other than to say it did not involve surgery.
USF: Forward Jessica Dickson was named Big East player of the week for the second time in three weeks. Dickson, who leads the nation with 25.6 points per game, averaged 30 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games.

RUTGERS 94, ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 56: Quincy Douby scored 27 in 24 minutes and keyed the decisive run to start the second half as the host Scarlet Knights rolled past the Division II Spartans. Rutgers (7-2) won for the fourth time in five games.

NO.24 ARIZONA: Guard Hassan Adams, the Wildcats' leading scorer, was issued a misdemeanor citation for disturbing the peace after being arrested Sunday morning over an incident outside his Tucson apartment complex, when a party apparently erupted into fighting.

OHIO ST. 92, NORFOLK ST. 59: J.J. Sullinger scored 15 to lead six players in double figures, and the host Buckeyes (5-0) used runs before and after halftime to pull away. ... Earlier, fired Ohio State coach Jim O'Brien testified that he loaned money to a recruit because he knew the player had competed professionally and would never join the Buckeyes. O'Brien spoke during the opening day of the trial in his wrongful firing lawsuit against OSU, which says he knew he was violating NCAA rules by keeping the loan secret for more than five years. Then-athletic director Andy Geiger said O'Brien was fired in 2004 after he acknowledged he had given $6,700 in 1999 to 7-foot-3 Aleksandar Radojevic.
WISCONSIN 54, N.C.-WILMINGTON 51: Kammron Taylor's 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted the host Badgers (8-1). Taylor scored Wisconsin's last eight as the teams combined to hit nine 3-pointers in the final 61/2 minutes, including six straight to open the stretch.
KANSAS ST.: Former coach Lon Kruger's jersey from his playing days with the Wildcats will be retired during halftime of the game against Iowa on Feb.8.
