TAMPA - A U.S. magistrate judge indicated Friday she agrees that Hillsborough County officials had no grounds to keep a controversial bikini bar in Valrico from opening. Judge Mary Scriven said that Gemini Property Ventures convinced her they had met all building requirements to receive a certificate of occupancy for the business at 1602 E Brandon Blvd. But the county's attorneys and administrator stopped the building official from issuing the document, claiming that the the bar's parking lot was too small. Gemini asked the court to force the county to comply. Attorneys for both sides now have until the first of the year to file arguments supporting their individual cases. Scriven will then review those before making a final judgment.
