Goosen leads at S. African Open

Retief Goosen shot 4-under 69 Saturday to lead fellow South African Ernie Els by three strokes after the third round of the South African Open.

Goosen, a two-time U.S. Open champion, had an eagle, three birdies and a bogey to finish 7-under 212.

Els had an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys in his round of 69 to move into second.

Ross Fisher, who led Goosen by five strokes after two rounds, slipped to 5-over 78.

U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell will cut back his 2006 golf schedule to 26 tournaments after playing 34 this year.

"I actually felt there probably three or four times this year where I wanted to go home after three rounds because I was so tired," Campbell said when he returned to New Zealand for Christmas. "That's one feeling I don't want to get next year."

Campbell said he hoped to copy Tiger Woods' approach to scheduling. "He obviously peaks every single week and I'm trying to learn off him," Campbell said.

Campbell said he has learned since winning the U.S. Open in June to manage the invitations he accepted and maintain a balance in his life off the golf course.

"I'm the type of person who always says yes all the time, and I'm learning to say no for my own survival," he said.
