LECANTO - Lecanto shot 51 percent from the field to down Springstead 77-46 on Saturday night. It was the Panther's 11th straight victory over the Eagles in the past four years.

The Panthers (7-1) went on a 14-0 run in the second quarter and outscored the Eagles 27-10 to take a 39-25 halftime lead. There was a running clock late in the game when Lecanto led 77-42.

Lecanto's Mychal Nichols was the game's high scorer with 18 points. He also was 8-of-10 at the free throw line. Richard Chaney added 13 points.

"The talking was unbelievable," Nichols said. "I never heard so much trash talking in my life. In the end, I think we shut their mouths. Our big thing was shutting our mouths, playing our game and pointing to the scoreboard. We're in their head."

A.B. Rodriguez led the Eagles (7-3) with 15 points.

"I think our team tonight, we came in, we had a plan," Lecanto coach Chris Nichols said. "I felt if we limited Rodriguez, (we would win). I think we took his legs a little bit.

"I told our guys that in terms of executing on offense, we did very well. Richard (Chaney) carried us for awhile. Mychal (Nichols) carried us for a while. Our guys were pretty unselfish."
