Catch a flick

Lots of new movies hit theaters for the holiday weekend. Munich, Steven Spielberg's film about the the bloody aftermath of the 1972 Olympic slayings; Memoirs of a Geisha, Rob Marshall's adaptation of the best-selling novel; and The Ringer, starring Johnny Knoxville as a gambler feigning a mental handicap to fix the Special Olympics, open today. The Producers, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick; Rumor Has It ..., starring Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Costner and Shirley MacLaine; and the Australian horror flick Wolf Creek all open Sunday.

Do the wave

Professional sports don't take a holiday. The Tampa Bay Lightning take on the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30 tonight at the St. Pete Times Forum, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. $19-$59. (813) 301-6600. And the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the Atlanta Falcons at 1 p.m. Saturday at Raymond James Stadium, 4201 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. Tickets are $35 to $71, if available. Sugarplum Fairies delight

Saturday morning shopping

Still need fresh produce for the holiday dinner? Or a unique gift? Check out one of the local fresh markets. Dunedin's is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in Pioneer Park, near downtown. The weekly Saturday Morning Market on Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg recently expanded to include 90 vendors. It is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The weekly market in Ybor City's Centennial Park is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and Gulfport's is open 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
