Officials threatened; man jailed

By Times Staff Writer

TAMPA - A man who deputies say made 15 calls to 911 Thursday was arrested after he allegedly told the operator he wanted to kill his probation officer, along with Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee and State Attorney Mark Ober.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said Charles Coleman Adams, 54, of 3804 58th St. N in Tampa, called the emergency line. Carter said she wasn't sure what precipitated his anger toward two top county officials and probation officer Susan Williamson.

Adams is charged with eight counts of misuse of the 911 system and three counts of threatening to kill a public official.

Jail records list Adams as a retired postal clerk. He was already on probation for a November charge, threatening to detonate an explosive device, Carter said. He has faced other charges before, including eavesdropping by intercepting written or oral communication, resisting an officer and arson of lands, according to public records.
