Sisters flee by window as mother is killed

Associated Press
Published December 25, 2005

ORLANDO - A 42-year-old man entered his former girlfriend's home, tied up her daughters and then killed the woman and himself in another room, police said.

The girls suffered cuts from climbing out a window before running to a neighbor's house, where a woman dialed 911.

Sheriff's deputies responding to the call found the bodies of Mona Maurice, 34, and her former boyfriend, Fanfan Besse, on Friday morning.

Besse allegedly bound the wrists of Maurice's daughters, ages 17 and 13, left them in a bedroom and walked into another room, where he shot their mother.

Maurice's roommate, Myrta Sinte, 31, also escaped through a window and was not seriously injured. The girls were being treated for injuries that weren't life threatening at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Once released, they will be in the custody of the state Department of Children & Families.
