Man dies from injuries in car fire

LARGO - The man pulled from a burning car outside Clearwater Trailer City has died, police said Tuesday.

Carl Albert Jones, 48, had been living in his car at 1650 Clearwater-Largo Road when it caught fire about 1:30 a.m. Monday, authorities said.

Jones was taken to Morton Plant Hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries Monday, authorities said. Largo police had been unable to find any of Jones' relatives.

The cause of the fire, which was mostly contained within the engine compartment, is still under investigation.
