ST. PETERSBURG - A 53-year-old St. Petersburg man was killed after a pickup truck hit his motorcycle on Christmas Eve, police said.

The pickup crossed over 58th Street N near 13th Avenue N and went into the wrong lane. Dennis Munroe was northbound on his Harley-Davidson about 11:30 p.m. when he was struck by a Ford Ranger driven by Christopher A. Jeske.

The motorcycle overturned and came to rest in the northbound curb lane. Munroe was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead early Sunday.

Police say Jeske, 28, of Tampa did not stop and got in another wreck at First Avenue S and 58th Street. He was treated at Bayfront Medical Center and was taken into custody.

Jeske was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving injury. He could face additional charges. Police said alcohol was involved and blood tests on Jeske are pending.
